murphy3 Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Hi, Brand new here and think I understand the process for priceline, but not quite sure. I need a hotel in Vancouver for 1 night 9/10 for 4 adults and then again on 9/18. Would like Hyatt, Marriott, but understand that I am bidding on star rating and not specific hotel. We are going on a cruise and need before and after hotel stays and would like to be downtown. The questions I have are: Are the bids I have seen posted here usually for 2 adults? Is Vancouver or Downtown the area I need to bid?Since my husband and I have different e-mail accounts can I bid using my name and then his or does Priceline identify the individual server? Thanks for any help on the subject,Murphy
thereuare Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding!Let's use this thread for your stay on 9/10 and please start a NEW THREAD for 9/18... this will allow us to keep both threads separate and accurately reflect the win for each date in the topic title.Priceline only gurantees bedding accomodations for double occupany... after that it is at the discretion of the hotel. Many do it and not have problems, but sometimes you will get a hotel that will only give a room with one bed... then you're stuck! Keep in mind that two rooms thru Priceline can often be less expensive than booking one room direct. On the otherhand, Hotwire will allow you to search for accomodations for up to quad occupancy, but it usually costs a little bit more than Priceline.First decide if you want to bid for two rooms, take a chance with only one room, or go with Hotwire instead... then we'll discuss how to best proceed. murphy3 Posted June 22, 2005 Author Report Posted June 22, 2005 Thanks, thereuare!I will try for the 10th first for 1 roomMurphy3

murphy3 Posted June 24, 2005 Author Report Posted June 24, 2005 I've noticed. Others are getting the 4*'s for $65-$76 and I've bid up to $85 for downtown or airport on 9/10 and haven't gotten it yet. I was hoping to keep it around $100, with taxes. Hotwire isn't offering any real options either for that price and category.Does anyone know why it would so high these dates?Murphy
thereuare Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Maybe a lot of cruise ships in port?As i sometimes say, "When you're caught it traffic... you're part of the problem" :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
