nailbitingstudent Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 I am going to New York for my first time from Dec 19th - Dec 21st. I know how to properly use Priceline, but I wanted some advice on a good location. I am looking to be convenient walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and clubs, hopefully in the city core. I also want to be in a safe area. I am willing to pay $150 per night and would prefer a 4* hotel. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
AaronJB Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)While Times Square is arguably the most popular location, it's also commonly the most expensive zone and the most busy/hectic. I particularly enjoy Midtown East, which has a nice mix of restaurants, some shopping and convenience (although it's worth noting that a few of the 3.5* properties in MTE are rather far East in MTE and are a bit of a trek to . I've also enjoyed the Empire State Building area. Other popular areas are Midtown West and Central Park South (although the 3.5* Hudson in CPS has particularly small rooms, even by NYC standards.) MSG-Convention and Chelsea are also nice area, although MTW and MTE and TS are really the core/primary Midtown zones. Are you looking to pay $150 "all-in" (with taxes/fees included) or would your max be $150 + taxes/fees?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted December 8, 2011 Report Posted December 8, 2011 The 'core' areas are typically: MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB.In terms of nightlife, i'd also consider Chelsea and/or Soho-Tribeca... although these last two zones will likely take you a bit away from the 'core', especially Soho-Tribeca, and therefore might not as convenient for your non-evening activities. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what how it goes, OR if you'd like help with a bidding strategy, let us know which zone(s) you decide upon and we'll advise accordingly.
