Priceline Hotel: 2.5* Galveston (East Beach) Best Western Plus Seawall Inn and Suites By The Beach

I am holding my breath on this one. Trip advisor shows this property as 39 out of 45 hotels in Galveston. The reviews pretty much support this rating - kind of scary. This is my second time using Priceline and I am finished. There doesn't seem to be much consistency in their star rating system.

Sorry to hear you're disappointed with the results.

When using the opaque providers we usually recommend sticking with the higher star rated hotels. While there may be hotels at the lower star levels which would meet your needs, there also may be some which don't, and with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE you don't get to choose which type you will get. Also, there is typically better value at the higher rated hotels, as there is more margin for a hotel to discount a room which typically sells for $150/nite than there is to discount a room which may sell for $50/nite.

If PRICELINE isn't for you, then you may want to try HOTWIRE in the future where you can take a guess as to the hotel being offered based upon the amenities shown before your purchase, as well often see the percent of previous customers satisfied with their stay and/or Tripadvisor reviews, which can give an added level of comfort that the hotel will be a good one.
