LFS Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Hey everyone,Any help IDing this Madison 3.5* hotel would be amazing!Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Hi-Speed Internet, 95% recommended, $53/nightBased on the amenities list, I know that it is NOT the Concourse because it doesn't have a shuttle. That leaves the Sheraton or the Hilton. The dates I would like to stay are 12/27 - 1/1 (5 nights).I thought I would play with my dates a bit to see if I could get the hotel "recommended" rating to change...it did...to 90% when I changed my dates to 12/27-12/30. Clearly either the Sheraton, or the Hilton has 95%, and the other one has 90%...Based on historical wins, some people have mentioned the Sheraton having a 90% rating, or have mentioned that the Hilton is rated higher in general. What does this mean for Hotwire? Is it safe to assume that the 95% hotel is indeed the Hilton? I would greatly prefer this hotel. Also, how does a long (5 night) stay, or a stay over prime dates such as NYE affect which property you get? Thanks!!!
AaronJB Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)This is would be a possible match for the Hilton or Sheraton (both of which do show with the same amenities). HOTWIRE did provide the tripadvisor ratings, which would possibly allow one to narrow down the possibilities, but I haven't seen these being shown in a month or so. The HOTWIRE ratings are not a good indicator of a particular property, because there's nothing to check the current/updated customer ratings (a property may show with 90%, but there's no way to know if it's changed recently) against. There have been some instances where ratings have been seen to change from search-to-search, as well.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

LFS Posted December 3, 2011 Author Report Posted December 3, 2011 So, I ended up getting the hotel I wanted for the dates I wanted, and I learned a few things in the process that I thought I would share...-After doing the same hotel search, (City, dates) everyday for around a week, the price dropped by $2/night ($53 to $51)-Having a friend in a different state do the same search resulted in them seeing a price that was $4/night ($55) more than the price I was seeing for the same hotel/area-Using the 3G network on my iphone and NOT allowing them to "use my current location" resulted in a different price ($55/night)-Using the 3G network on my iphone and ALLOWING them "use my current location" resulted in yet another price ($54/night)-Using Firefox also resulted in $55/night at the same time Safari was offering ($51)Conclusion: By doing the same search over and over, you could possibly drive the price downAlso, I saw someone else post a purchase recently for a 3.5* hotel in Madison, WI for the night of 12/2 and they said it was the Sheraton. Soon after that post, I did the search myself and saw the hotel being offered for that night had a 90% recommendation. I made the assumption that the Sheraton had 90% and the Hilton was 95%...and then I waited until the 95% hotel showed up for my dates...then I booked, and it WAS the Hilton....I think right now it is pretty safe to assume that these ratings are accurate...if you see the 90%, you are getting the Sheraton, 95% the Hilton...
LFS Posted December 3, 2011 Author Report Posted December 3, 2011 Price dropped from $53 to $51 after I checked it a bunch...Smoke-freeFItness CenterPoolRestaurantBusiness CentreHigh Speed Internet95% of Hotwire customers recommend It is the Hilton! Right now I believe the other hotel with the same amenities and a 90% rating is the Sheraton...hope this helps!
