bmw745ion19s Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Hey guys, its been a while since ive been able to take any trips. Been too tied up here with work or did day trips. Since this is more last minute then normal maybe it will at least give others a look at the going rates.I just did this reservation earlier today for a nice weekend trip to Disney World. I was originally going to reserve the Hilton WDW hotel on Kayak because you get the extra magic hours and its going rate was $99. As you all know they do not charge a silly resort fee and parking is a fair $10 or so. I would have been around $125 all in and have been wanting to try this hotel and the extra magic hours. At the same time through Hotwire I had noticed what I know as and matched the Shingle Creek for $64 before taxes and parking. What eliminated the original plan of the Hilton was when I discovered there were no night time extra magic hours for our stay and that was the whole reason of getting that hotel. I was ready to go at Hotwire's $64 rate but figured why not try priceline and see if I get somewhere else and Ive been enjoying bidding too. I was ok with either a 4* or Resort class in either the Seaworld International Drive Catagory (4* Only Shown) or the Downtown Disney Catagory (Resort Only Shown). I really wish priceline wouldnt consider a resort as an "upgrade" from 4* as many of them have ridiculous fees when I dont care about most of the crap they have, I just want a nice place to sleep and relax at. Also they consider some hotels Resorts that otherwise are equal to a lot of the 4*s in amenities and features. Disney Maingate I excluded because Im not crazy to try any of the 4*s they have the omni resort which always seems to have $100 prices but then adds over $30 in fees per night which is a great way to piss customers off (read the trip advisor reviews if you dont believe me lol) Also excluded Universal-International drive North because I dont believe any of those hotels are 4* nor do I care about driving farther to stay there. Also, excluded Downtown Orlando on basis of location since I have no desire to go out there at night this trip.Knowing I wanted 1 of the 2 categories though and the areas I wanted to stay and places I liked it gave me 8 free re-bids while avoiding using 3 zones. I planned to not exceed bidding $60 because at that price I would just gladly pay the $65 to know i was getting the shingle creek and avoiding resort fees. I normally bid in increments of $5 to save time and conserve rebids but I knew I wasnt going to get the hotel for $20 lol I started at $35 then bumped to $40 then from $40 did $3 increments or so. I of course realized if I got some of the resorts for $60 after fees (I allowed $30 for average resorts) and taxes I was likely to be around $100 but being they are nice places and convenient I could easily live with that price and like trying new places. I kept bidding and on my 5th bid (3rd free try) I got the Shingle Creek. Not bad considering it was my backup and I was ready to spend the $64 on it at hotwire. I believe the going rate on Kayak was $150 for the night before taxes and fees. Im very happy with the price and have been wanting to try this hotel for a while. Hope this helps you guys and ill be sure to post my trip advisor review here when i get back! As always I clicked the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links here too!

bmw745ion19s Posted December 23, 2011 Author Report Posted December 23, 2011 Sorry to take so long but I just posted the review in the proper section. I also kept the 4* rating on the Priceline Survey to try to keep the list accurate on here. I did agree with the rating regardless.
