spoiled1 Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 I am interested in booking through PL for the first time for a trip to NYC. Whats the best way to do it? I don't have a specific area I'm looking at, but just need a good hotel at a decent rate. I would like a 3.5-4 star hotel for about $60-$80/night. Is this reasonable? I've never been to NYC so I am not familiar with the locations. But if I could stay somewhere around Times Square that would be nice. I hear Chelsea is nice too. Thanks a lot for your help.
AaronJB Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Please provide your date/s of travel and we would be happy to offer suggestions. It would depend on star rating, but $60-80 is generally difficult in NYC aside from during the slowest portion of the year (parts of the time period between January and early March.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
spoiled1 Posted December 3, 2011 Author Report Posted December 3, 2011 Thanks! I am looking to arrive on Thurs Dec. 15 or Friday Dec. 16 and leave on Monday the 19th.
AaronJB Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Unfortunately, these dates are still part of the busy holiday season in NYC, and a winning bid at the 3.5*/4* level in Manhattan will likely take more towards the level of $125/135-185/195+, depending on the star rating and zone. Times Square and other nearby Midtown areas will likely take towards the higher end of that range, and Times Square could definitely take above that range, especially at the 4* level. Checking in on the 15th is somewhat more expensive than the 16th, but either date set is pricey, unfortunately.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

spoiled1 Posted December 9, 2011 Author Report Posted December 9, 2011 What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.I found a Ramada Eastside on the apple core website and the total for the trip would be $589 (taxes included) Fri. Dec 16, 2011 Room Rate $164.99 Taxes and Fees $27.83 Day Total with Taxes and Fees $192.82 Sat. Dec 17, 2011 Room Rate $214.99 Taxes and Fees $35.21 Day Total with Taxes and Fees $250.20 Sun. Dec 18, 2011 Room Rate $124.99 Taxes and Fees $21.93 Day Total with Taxes and Fees $146.92 . I haven't seen anything cheaper than that in the midtown area. I would like to stay in the midtown area if at all possible. Do you think I can get a priceline deal better than this one? I can cancel 24 hours in adv without being charged. Just curious.
thereuare Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 You previously mentioned a 3.5-4* hotel, but i don't think the Ramada Eastside would be considered a 3.5*-4* hotel so you're not really making an apples-to-apples comparison (other sites rate it between 2*-3*)... are you willing to spend more for a higher rated hotel OR are you looking to get a similarly rated hotel for less? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. spoiled1 Posted December 9, 2011 Author Report Posted December 9, 2011 I wouldn't mind a similarly rated hotel for less.
