hoh11 Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Hi,I am looking for a bidding strategy on any 2* and up hotel in the NYC area between 12/30-01/01. Anywhere in Manhatten is fine as long as it is within a 10-15 minute walk away from the subway. Room sizes are not an issue. I am looking for the cheapest option available as we do not plan on staying in our rooms much, other than a place to sleep. Thanks
AaronJB Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)This is traditionally one of the busiest periods of the year in NYC and rates are traditionally extremely high. What would be your desired budget per night? Bidding for 2* is also more risky, as quality can vary more significantly at 2.5* and especially under in NYC.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

hoh11 Posted December 6, 2011 Author Report Posted December 6, 2011 My budget would be $175/night. Regarding star levels, anything 2.5* and up would be fine. You mentioned that anything 2.5* and lower is extremely risky. Would I be able to bid for a 3* within my budget?
thereuare Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 We will suggest a strategy for whatever star level you'd like to try, but at the moment i don't think $175 will likely be enough at either star level.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. hoh11 Posted December 8, 2011 Author Report Posted December 8, 2011 Yes, all of those zones are acceptable. Thanks.Let's go with a bidding strategy for a hotel in NYC with a $175 max. If that does not work, would you advise me to try to bid for the Hilton Newark Penn Station, which seems to be the only 3* hotel in Newark? Currently, priceline is asking for $236/night.
