omz Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 Hi everyone,I'm new to the forums so please go easy on me. :) I'm trying to get the best rate possible for Las Vegas 5*. It can be south or north strip, slight preference to south strip because I have friends staying at Cosmopolitan. My search on Hotwire (through the sites links) shows:NORTH - $114, I'm guessing its Trump (no casino): Spa Services, Resort, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s)SOUTH - $131, not sure where: Resort, Casino, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s)I want to do the BB bid strategy against Priceline, but I can't find the guide on the forum. I searched the new members topics and didn't find it either. If anyone can advise me on how to get the best deal, I would really appreciate it.Thanks in advance,Omz
AaronJB Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)If you click "see all" next to the amenities, are there additional amenities showing with each listing?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
omz Posted December 2, 2011 Author Report Posted December 2, 2011 OK here is the expanded full amenities list:NORTH - $114, I'm guessing its Trump (no casino): Spa Services, Resort, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), High-Speed Internet Access, Kitchenette SOUTH - $131, not sure where: Resort, Casino, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access
thereuare Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 The North Strip property is a match for the Trump, while the Strip South property is consistent with the Aria Hotel and Casino... that would be my best guess for each of these. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. omz Posted December 2, 2011 Author Report Posted December 2, 2011 If the prices I posted in the previous response are from HOTWIRE, what is the bidding procedure on PRICELINE, i.e. starting bid price, increments, wait periods, etc? is there a tried and true formula I can be linked to? I could not find it in the forums. Thanks
thereuare Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 If bidding on PRICELINE, which zone(s) are you willing to accept and what would be your maximum bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. omz Posted December 4, 2011 Author Report Posted December 4, 2011 I have a guaranteed deal for $135/night at Cosmopolitan from my friend's company hostess. I was looking to get the best deal possible, but I guess I'm willing to pay max $110 for south and $75 for north. I would accept either zone, whichever accepts a low price. Is that reasonable?
thereuare Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 At the 5* level in Vegas you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip South and Strip North...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Strip South...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone (any of the re-bid zones not used above in the previous two bids)...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone (from this point onward any re-bid zones is fine, even if used in the first round of bidding above)...Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. omz Posted December 4, 2011 Author Report Posted December 4, 2011 OK, thanks, this makes sense now.I started doing the bidding on priceline with the sites link for LV strip south, up to $103 and got nothing. I'm going to talk to my GF again and see what she thinks about LV strip north, to try to get the cheaper rate up there. But thank you very much for the advice. This is an awesome strategy. I will try again tomorrow on north strip.
thereuare Posted December 5, 2011 Report Posted December 5, 2011 There are always exceptions, but Strip North is usually more expensive than Strip South. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Good luck and keep us updated on your progress.
