akutak Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 I'm researching Hotwire deals for this weekend, 12/2 - 12/3, and keep getting:4* - Chicago - Mag MileAmenities: Smoke Free, Fitness, Restaurant, Business, High-speed InternetI realize, according to the hotel list, this narrows it to probably the Hard Rock, Sheraton, or Westin River North. I've stayed at the Sheraton and would like to try a different hotel. Is there ANY way to narrow it down further? "Recommended in 80% of Hotwire customer reviews"... does that help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

akutak Posted November 30, 2011 Author Report Posted November 30, 2011 Thought I did that... my bad. Same deal still up... Do prices on Expedia and Travelocity have any bearing on what might be a deal on HOTWIRE? If so, there's no way it's the Hard Rock, ($400+ on Expedia.) Any correlation?
AaronJB Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 I'd say the Hyatt may also be a possibility (and what appears to be the Hyatt is showing in this spot when 2a/2c are indicated.) While the ratings are not a reliable indicator, with 80%, I'd be surprised if it was the Westin. The HOTWIRE customer review % is not a reliable indicator of a particular property and there's also nothing to check the ratings against (HOTWIRE listings did show tripadvisor ratings, which one could check against at tripadvisor, but I haven't seen tripadvisor ratings showing w/listings in a month or so.) Also, ratings have been seen at times to change from search-to-search.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
akutak Posted November 30, 2011 Author Report Posted November 30, 2011 And now there's a deal, 4* - Chicago - Mag Mile, same amenities, but with a 95% Recommendation... that's gotta be a different hotel right?
AaronJB Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 The percent recommendation numbers have been known to change slightly from search-to-search - it could certainly be a different hotel, but that's not 100% guaranteed (and unfortunately, there's nothing to check up-to-the-minute ratings against.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
