Biggu Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Hi,I'm looking for a 3 stars or 4 stars hotel from 30/12 until 01/01/2012 in the TSD, Midtown or Central Park area !! I prefer a 4 stars hotel around 200$ per night !! So how I bid to get that? Espacially during the new year period!! Is it possible to have a room for 4 persons or I have to book 2 rooms ? It's cheaper if we are 4 in the same room!!Thanks!!
thereuare Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. (this is especially true during a busy time when most rooms will be occupied and/or the hotel sold-out) Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)With the above noted, i'll add that at current rates a 4* hotel at $200/nite for these dates, does not seem very likely. These are obviously very busy nites in NYC, and with most hotels able to be at or near full occupancy on their own, there is little reason to offer deeply discounted rates to the opaque suppliers. What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Biggu Posted December 1, 2011 Author Report Posted December 1, 2011 First of all thanks a lot for your help!!Of corse I will not take the risk with paying for a room able to welcome only 2 persons!! In this case I have to bid for 2 rooms !! It's safer!! I looked on Hotwire and I wasn't able to bid for hotels!! When I chose my dates no available rooms was shown!! Is it normal ? On Priceline was easy to find. For your second question!! Normaly the cheapest room for 4 persons that I found on the conventional websites was 400$/night (+ taxes) in Midtown area and a 3* hotel!! For a 2 persons room the lowest rate was 346$ (+taxes) per nite in TSD area a 3* hotel!! Better to go with a room with 4 persons in this case!!My question is : with biding on Priceline for 2 rooms!! What is the rate that my offer will be accepted? Thanks!!
thereuare Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 Based upon current rates, my guess is that you're likely looking in the high-$200's (or more) for a 3* hotel... are you able/willing to raise your maximum bid at this time, or do you want to stick with a $200 maximum bid?Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
