Priceline Hotel: 4* San Diego (Downtown-HI) Manchester Grand Hyatt

I need to travel to San Diego from July 7th to July 10th 2005

I am looking for something in the radius of 30 minutes drive to the Airport.

I will prefer something (some resort/or 4*) along the coastal line if possible.

Budget is around $100 per night.

Please help !!

1. What should be my starting bid ?

2. what order of the zones I use use to get free rebids ?

I had to cancel my las vegas trip idea as this urgent trip came over. It would have been difficult to do 2 trips next to each other.

Moreover, as I am on a budget, it was getting very expensive to do the vegas long weekend trip.

I have updated that thread.

Need your guidance now to find some good place in San Diego.

Please let us know the actual Priceline zones (by name) you're willing to bid... it makes it easier for us to not have to guess how far north/south along the coast you are willing to go.

I really do not know much about the areas in San Diego. Just want to be in some area which is nice... preferable around the coast line but not more than 30-35 minute drive from the airport.

I also check the priceline as you had requested for it.... I think the following area should fit this match.

a. Downtown San Diego & Harbor Island

b. Mission Valley

c. San Diego Coastal

Well, I pulled the trigger... I was getting bit restless thinking that with every passing day the rates will be going up and not many people were giving any suggestions.

So I ventured in with all the limited knowledge I had.

Bid 1: 80 Rejected zone costal

Bid 2: 85 Rejected zone costal and DT

Bid 3: 83 Rejected zone costal, mission and DT

Bid 4: 85 Rejected zone costal, mission, carlsbad and DT

Bid 5: 90 Accepted zone costal, mission, carlsbad, del-mar and DT

$90 for 4* --- Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego --- in Downtown

I think it is not bad. :)

Any Tips on this hotel ? Everything here looks expensive... $18 self parking...$24 valet...$6 water OUCH!! :)

Great hotel. Try the seafood buffet on Friday night. Very reasonable. Buy an Entertainment Book from Thereuare for $9.99 and use the two for one Hornblower cruise and save $40. Stroll out your door into Seaport Village and get the Chicken Parm w/ pasta at the food court for $9. Big enough for two!

A few comments....

not many people were giving any suggestions

I think you may have found this to be the case as although usually our members are quite helpful in the areas they know, this is not the best board to come and do your research as far as where to stay. This board is the place to come in order find the best deal once you have determined the area you want to stay in.

You finally gave the zones which were acceptable to you at 1:46am (EST) and only gave 2 hours before you decided to go on your own.
