Priceline Hotel: 3.5* New York City (Midtown East) Millennium Un Plaza Hotel New York

12/2 - 12/4 2011. Got this 3.5* hotel for $201 tonight. Reviews are mixed but location is actually quite good for going up and down town on the 1st and 2nd avenue buses, and for getting in an out of JFK. I will be unhappy if I can't get two beds but I wanted to take $100 off the backup $299 per night booking I had at the Wall Street Inn. That looks nice but for just a weekend the way downtown location would have added to expenses.

I tried all recommended strategies over the last couple of weeks in an attempt to get a 4* hotel in all viable areas for less than $200. Tonight I went to $216 in all zones except Brooklyn, which I did not want. I got discouraged about keeping on with this this after seeing someone here pay $300 for Times Square for same dates. So when nothing worked for 4* up to $216 tonight, I checked 3.5 and went back down to $175, $185, then $201 and this is what I got.

Looks like this one took a bit of effort, and while not your first choice of location, glad to see you can make this work for your needs... not a bad deal considering how expensive the city is this weekend (seasonally this is always a very busy weekend in the city)

My often recommended Ess-A-Bagel isn't too far away from this hotel (Third Ave at 51st St)... not worth making a breakfast trip out, but if you're heading towards the east side in the morning, it's a worthwhile stop for a relatively inexpensive breakfast among local NYers.
