Romelle Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 $92 Priceline bid = $112.39.So, bids of 79, 82, 85, 87, 90 and 92 would get you to the Marriott level, assuming that Marriott # already includes any taxes and fees. Toward the top end, it is sort of your choice whether a sure thing is better or you'd like to take a chance on getting a little higher priced hotel? If the Marriott # didn't include taxes and fees, it is just a matter of using a slightly larger increment between the bidding steps.I'm just a member, but am sure a moderator will be along pretty quickly to welcome you and help you officially.I double-checked your free rebid zones, but it is a good idea to re-check them just before bidding. I also took a look at Hotwire for your date, but the closest they have is a 3* at $114. And sometimes Hotwire can be a 1/2 star more generous than Priceline, so it might be more like a Priceline 2 1/2*. There also was a 2 1/2* at $86. I mention this one only because the amenities included free breakfast.Welcome here, and hope you decide to come back again.Romelle
boberonicus Posted November 28, 2011 Author Report Posted November 28, 2011 $92 Priceline bid = $112.39.So, bids of 79, 82, 85, 87, 90 and 92 would get you to the Marriott level, assuming that Marriott # already includes any taxes and fees. Thanks, that's very useful info. I should have mentioned that none of my prices included tax. The total including tax from Marriott is $125, so that ups the bids by $10 or so. Even so, it looks like I'm quickly approaching the point of diminishing returns. I personally wouldn't bother with Priceline to save less than, say, $15 per room, as I get slotted into "construction zone hotels" about 15% of the time... Robert

Romelle Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Sometimes it works, and then .....I checked HOTWIRE again for your date - still $114 for the 3*. There was a 2* at $82, but your Marriott option undoubtedly beats that.Hope to hear from you on your next foray.Romelle
