bond316 Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 Goal: to book the least expensive 4* hotel in any of the zones I listedZones: DT, CPS, Chelsea, ESB, HK, ME, MW, TSDates: Checkin 12/16; Checkout 12/18Price: $200/night after taxes. So max bid of $175? (if this is not realistic for this time, please let me know)Thanks!
thereuare Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 A $200 all-in is probably closer to $165 than $175, but we'll go up to $175 in a strategy and you can stop at whatever amount you'd like.At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* DT, Chelsea, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS and CPS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* DT, Chelsea, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW and TS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* DT, Chelsea, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW and CPS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* DT, Chelsea, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW, TS, and CPS...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $168, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $173, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. bond316 Posted November 29, 2011 Author Report Posted November 29, 2011 :( We searched hundreds of options to find your hotel room, however we can't accept your offer of $178 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged for Request Number ###. If you are willing to raise your price by $44 to $222 per room, per night, you can try the same request again right now. With a bid of $178 the total after fees was $438.92
thereuare Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 What are your thoughts going forward:-raise your bid-lower your star rating-wait it out and hope for lower rates in the weeks ahead-consider Jersey City zone where a 4* can likely be had ~$100 (and good access to PATH station to commute into the city)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. But waiting it out might make it worse, right?
bond316 Posted November 29, 2011 Author Report Posted November 29, 2011 I think either raise my bid or wait it out. But waiting it out might make it worse, right?Would it make a difference (cheaper) if I were to book one night at a time? I understand it may be at different hotels...
AaronJB Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 This is generally around the time when rates begin to cool off a bit into the second half of the month, while the first half of the month is prime shopping season. Splitting the stay is an option if rates are substantially different, but rates for these two nights look fairly similar. There is no way of knowing if rates will come down closer to your stay.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
bond316 Posted November 29, 2011 Author Report Posted November 29, 2011 So I guess I will have to up my bidding then. I don't want it to get closer to the date and it be harder/more expensive.
thereuare Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 HOTWIRE currently as a 4* hotel in the ESB zone with Boutique and Business icons for $195. While a bit more than you have already bit, the Kitano has previously been seen with this amenity set, and the reviews are generally great for this property; should this be of interest to you. (of course it's always possible that this is some other hotel, especially with a limited number of icons such as this)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help along the way. bond316 Posted November 29, 2011 Author Report Posted November 29, 2011 Yes, I just saw this for $203 a night. Usually bidding through PRICELINE is slightly cheaper than HOTWIREThe total on HOTWIRE is $496. Do you think $450 to $475 is possible? I would think the bidding can go up to $195?Unless you think its best to wait...
thereuare Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 Since you're flexible on zones, the Club Quarters World Trade is available for $179/nite (club room) / $199 (standard room)... or the World Center Hotel is available at $199/nite. Each of these appears to be fully refundable (double check terms during the check-out process) and assuming either/both of these are acceptable to you, i would book one of these as a back-up and continue to bid PRICELINE with a $180 limit for something in midtown... $160 Downtown. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bond316 Posted November 29, 2011 Author Report Posted November 29, 2011 Okay so should I use the same strategy, you listed before?
thereuare Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 You would need to adjust the strategy slightly if you only wanted to bid up to $160 to Downtown and up to $180 for all other zones.Using your FIVE re-bid zones:Select 4* DT, Chelsea, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS and CPS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* DT, Chelsea, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW and TS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $158, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* DT, Chelsea, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW and CPS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $158, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Chelsea, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW, TS, and CPS... bond316 Posted December 7, 2011 Author Report Posted December 7, 2011 Best of luck, and thank you for keeping us updated and for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Please let us know what you decide and if you have any questions.Through my digging I found the Andaz Wall St. for $477 for two nights after taxes. I then called in and asked to speak with the best rate guarantee group and received a nightly rate of 166.5 which came out to $389.12 for two nights after taxes. This is my favorite property downtown, so I am very happy with the results.
AaronJB Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 Thank you for closing the thread.Enjoy your stay! :)
