A little disappointed in this one. Thought for sure I would receive the "On the Ave" Hotel as it matched the description 100%. I have a Starwood Friends Rate at The Helmsley Hotel for $144/night, but thought I could get the aforementioned hotel. Oh well, still a very nice area of town. I used the HOTWIRE quick quote box for booking.

My mistake as for some reason I missed the restaurant in the description.

Sorry to see you missed the Restaurant icon and received a hotel other than what you were hoping for. While the rooms are small at this property (and elsewhere around NYC), i think the location is better than On the Avenue and hopefully this will work well for your needs.

The only reason I was hoping for "On the Ave" was that a couple of the recent reviews of the Empire Hotel on Tripadvisor state they had laptops stolen from their room, along with other items while staying at the hotel.

"I recently stayed at the Empire Hotel, and during my stay, my friend's laptop was stolen, as well as her purse. I also had a small side bag stolen from me, as well as having one of the maid's throw away one of my keepsake travel blankets. The service at this hotel was horrible and I do not believe that they did their best to find my friend's lap top. They don't just vaporize into this air, and the card tester for the door is a complete joke, as well as the "door checks" that they do in the middle of the night. The police said that this is a common offense at the Empire Hotel, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Stayed November 2011, traveled with friends"
