I found a deal for a 4-star hotel on Hotwire for $67/night, but it only gets a score of 75% in consumer recommendations, so I'm a little wary of buying. Any suggestions for what it might be?

Dates: Dec. 20-22

Area: North Michigan Ave/Water Tower/Gold Coast

Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access

Thanks!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

The Affinia, Westin Michigan Ave. and Allerton have been reported with this amenity set (and there may be others unreported, as these amenities are not uncommon.) Given the 75% approval, I'm guessing - if this is one of the previously reported 3 - I'd lean towards the Allerton.

If I search for 2 adults and 2 children, I see a 4* in this zone (NMA-WT-GC) w/Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa for $79, which would be a possible match for the W Lakeshore. This *only* comes up when searching for 2a/2c and not just 2a.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks so much! I used the forum's HOTWIRE link to search for 2 adults/2 children like you suggested and found that the price went down to $76/night! So I bought it, and sure enough, it was for the W Lakeshore. So just to confirm, the listing details were as follows:

* 12/20 to 12/22 (2 nights)

* N. Mich. Ave./Water Tower/Gold Coast

* Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Hi-Speed Internet Access, Spa Services

* $76/night (+ tax/fees)

* 90% recommended

Thanks again!!

A couple of minor notes:

This property is right by the water; the blocks right around it are going to be particularly cold in December if the wind is coming off the lake.

I really like Fox and Obel Market and Cafe nearby (corner of Illinois and McClurg) quite a bit - the cafe is a nice option for breakfast (or lunch/dinner) and the gourmet market is a fun place to browse and grab a treat/snack for later. There's plenty of other restaurant options nearby, including Yolk on 355 East Ohio and West Egg Cafe on 620 N Fairbanks.

Lake view is an upgrade at this property, but if you can get a high floor looking in the other direction, you may get a pretty nice view of the surrounding area.

Enjoy your stay.
