Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Chicago (North Michigan Ave - River North) Doubletree Chicago Magnificent Mile

Hi board members,

I'm a first time, non US/canadian priceline user. I need a room in chicago from Nov 24 - Dec 1 (yup, thats in three days time...). Looking for a 3.5-4 star in the Loop. My first bid at 80 USD got rejected. I guess I got overconfident after reading online stories about succesfull bids. However, I don't know what to change about my bid to get it accepted, since I can't change the price for the next 24 hours. I'd like to add in a zone with only 2 star hotels, but I'm afraid they might suddenly add a 4 star hotel in that zone, and then Ill have to stay somewhere way out of the city centre. As a young woman I'd rather stay somewhere close to the magnificent mile or mccormick.

Could someone help me out? :)

Very nice deal for this property, especially during a busier time period (holiday shopping, plus if there's a conference going on, that'll add to it.) If you are traveling on your own, this is definitely a nice/comfortable area of the city, although as with any other big city, do be aware of what's going on around you.

A few minor notes:

There will be significant crowds for black friday shopping this weekend. If you like sales and packed stores, then you'll definitely be in the right place, as there will likely be a lot of people out.

If you do not like packed stores and packed streets, the first weekend may be a good time to explore a neighborhood like Lincoln Park. If you would like suggestions on sightseeing in Lincoln Park or other trip ideas, please let me know what you are interested in and I'd be happy to offer suggestions.

If you do have any city questions (restaurants, activities, etc) please let me know and I'd be happy to offer suggestions, as well. I will note that there's a very nice Cafe/Gourmet Market a few blocks from your hotel - Fox and Obel Market and Cafe, which is on the corner of Illinois and McClurg.

I believe Lake View at this property is a paid upgrade, so a PRICELINE reservation would not be eligible, but higher floor rooms looking in other directions may still provide nice partial/full (depending) views of the surrounding area.
