* Started at $100 for 4* Westwood - Century City only.

* Bid in increments of $5.

* At $130, received counter offer of $155. Declined counter-offer.

* Bid again and accepted by the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza at $135.

* There was a 4* in this zone with no exactly matching description on the Hotwire list. It was $139, so $135 was going to be my final Priceline bid anyway. This hotel as it turns out is the Hotel Angeleno.

* Lowest retail rate for the Hyatt Regency was $246 non-refundable; $289 refundable.

* Backup reservation at the Palomar for $198.
