Hi there. I would appreciate some bidding assistance. I already booked Oct 9-11 staying at New York Hilton 4* for $150.

Now I need help with the remaining dates that I'm in New York - Oct 11-17. I don't mind splitting the bid. I would prefer paying $120-$130 per night. Areas preferred are MTW, then MTS, then could also try UM/CPS.

Of course a 4* would be nice, but I'm not one of those people who is very fussy with the hotels. As long as the bed's good. Are 2* hotels in Manhattan OK? I saw Milford is listed as 2* and I've stayed there and it was good. So if I can stay in a 2* and pay even less, I would be fine with that. I saw on the website that there were bids accepted for 2* at around $87, I think it was.

Could someone give me a bidding strategy for the dates above, please? Thanks. appreciate it.

I wouldn't recommend bidding 2* in NYC... although some hotels may be fine, you can't choose which 2* hotel you will receive, so you may get one that is 'not fine'.

You have two re-bids available at the 4* level and one re-bid available at the 3* level. This is how i would bid based upon your maximum bid:

Select 4* MTE and MTW...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* UM/CPS and MTS...

Bid $115, if rejected add MTE and MTW...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130.

If the above is rejected, close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 3* MTE...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone....

Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 3* MTW...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone....

Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 3* UM/CPS...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone....

Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 3* MTS...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone....

Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 3* MTE and MTW...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone....

Bid $115, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 3* UM/CPS and MTS...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone....

Bid $115, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 3* MTE and MTW and UM/CPS...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone....

Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 3* MTE and MTW and MTS...

Bid $120, if rejected re-bid zone....

Bid $125, if rejected add UM/CPS and...

Bid $130.

You can try the above for your complete stay, and then re-try for subsets of your stay (always make sure that your bid includes at least the first or last nite of your stay... otherwise you risk changing properties too many times)

Any questions please ask... let us know how it goes.

Hi there! Thank you very much for the bidding strategy. Because I had do some bidding yesterday and used a few of the different suggestions you had before, I couldn't use them because I had to wait 72 hours to bid those again...

BUT...I hadn't used the whole re-bid zone thing. I misunderstood that originally and so I re-read it and finally got it. So since I hadn't used any of my re-bid zone options yesterday, I decided to use that. I did try several times for different dates and 4* and 3*...

ANYWAY, I won a bid for $135 for a 3* hotel - Four Points Manhattan Chelsea. Oct. 14-17.

My winning bid was using re-bid Upper West Side, MTE, MTW, UM/CPS and MTS. It was my final bid with all these zones (the only ones I was considering). I went added MTS as the last zone and moved from $130 to $135.

Thanks again and now I have Oct 9-11 at Hilton and Oct 15-17 at Four Points. Got to book Oct 11-15 now. I'll let you know how that goes. :)

Do you rememeber the highest you bid in the MTS zone prior to this bid? (it appears that the MTS wasn't included in the $130 bid you had made immediately prior to this $135 bid)... and this is in the MTS zone, correct?

This is a fairly new hotel and i had just walked by it last week... there is a Whole Foods supermarket a block or two away.

This was actually my highest bid for MTS at the 3* level - $135. I went from $120 (UWS + MTW) to $125 (UWS + MTW+ MTE) to $130 (UWS + MTW + MTE + UM/CPS. Then $135 (which is when I added MTS). Previously when I was trying the 4* level, I went up to $138 but got rejected.

And yes, this hotel is at MTS.
