Priceline Hotel: Hong Kong Bidding Help

Hi,

I'm looking for help with bidding for hotels in Hong Kong from Dec 19 - 22, 2011.

First choice:

5* in West Hong Kong, maximum bid $185

Second choice:

4* in West Hong Kong, maximum bid $100

Do these bids seem reasonable? The rack rate in this area for 5*'s is ~$370 and 4*'s is $160.

Did you want to try for a 5* up to your limit first, then if rejected, try for a 4* hotel?

In Hong Kong at the 5* level you have THREE re-bid zones... no re-bid zones at the 4* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 5* WHK and re-bid zone2...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 5* WHK and re-bid zone3...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 5* WHK and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3...

Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $145

If the above is rejected we'll revise to try again in 24 yours up to your $185 limit... then if that is rejected we'll switch gears and suggest a strategy for a 4* hotel.

Thanks for your quick response and advice. I'd like to exhaust 5* options before looking at 4* so I'll follow the strategy you laid out. Just to be clear: my rebid zones would be East HK, Central Kowloon and Tsuen Wan because they don't offer 5* options?

24 hours after your bid you can re-try for a 5* as follows:

Select 5* WHK...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $155, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 5* WHK and re-bid zone2...

Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 5* WHK and re-bid zone3...

Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 5* WHK and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3...

Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

If the above is rejected and you don't wish to increase your bid, we'll outline a strategy to try for a 4* (but hopefully it won't come to that ;) ).

Hi, still no luck. I could go up a little more to $190 if that's worth trying. Otherwise, I'll look at 4*s.

On your next round of bidding you could increase each of the bids about by $5 to reach $190, if that is rejected close that browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE.

I'd bid $85. If this too is rejected wait 24 hours, re-try the 5* bidding up to $190, close the browser and try a 4* at $90.

Repeat every 24 hours until you reach your $100 limit for a 4*. Any questions feel free to ask.
