Skydiver
First time user of PL and this forum (not in that order). Looking to stay in a 5 or 4 * on the strip, or west side. Tried to do a PL bid at 5*, strip only at $159. Rejected so based on the advice at the top, I added another area that did not have 5* and bumped to $169. Rejected again but then I was dumped into a "buy it" page for LV with fixed prices. At that time, any time I logged into PL, I was back to this "take it of leave it" page. I assume this was my "time out" penalty. I had assumed I would be allowed to add zones and bump the price, but I seemed to be limited to 2 tries.Received email from PL today so I guess my "time out" is over.Anyhow, any suggested bid suggestions for a newbie? thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding!Near the top of the "fixed price" hotel list there should have been a link for "Name Your Own Price"... i don't think you were given a 'time out' as you refered to it.To start on this upcoming stay, are you willing to SDPLIT YOUR BID? What is the most you would be willing to pay for a 5* before it wasn't worth the extra money over a 4*? Skydiver
Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry, I forgot to add in the OP that I did not want to split the bid. I am not sure if I saw the "name your own price" link when I got locked into that fixed price screen, so I just assumed I was in the 72 hour wait to rebid time (what I called a time out). I received an email from PL that said "Since it has been at least three days since your last request, you can try your exact same hotel request again right now by clicking here"In terms of price, my max for a 5* is $180, which may be unrealistic for a Thu/Fri/Sat stay. Failing that, a 4* at up to $140 is what I am looking for. Link to comment
thereuare
Would you go up to $190 for a 5*?If so do a Hotwire search for your dates... there is a 5* appearing for $200/nite (your price may differ slightly). Assuming you have never used Hotwire before you can use the coupon code 'giftcard06' for an extra $10 off per nite... bringing your cost to $190/nite.The 'problem' with using Priceline for this stay, and not willing to split your bid, is that you're going to be paying weekend rates for Thursday nite (overpaying for Thursday) and therefore messes up the 3 nite budget. If the $190 Hotwire deal above isn't feasible let us know and we'll try a Priceline strategy anyway, although i think it may be difficult without splitting the bid.Let us know whatever you decide.
