andyrewne
I've never stayed in Detroit and I would appreciate help on getting one room - must be near the airport at 3.5 or 4 * from 11/19 to 11/20.If I can't get a good deal on a nice room, I'll just buy one off the rack so I can cancel if my plans change. Thanks everyone for your help. Link to comment
thereuare
What do you consider to be a 'good deal' to use as your maximum bid? Are you willing to pay more for a 4* hotel vs. a 3.5* hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. andyrewne
I would like the least expensive 3.5* or better. I wouldn't want to pay more for a 4 *, unless you talk me into something spectacular. :) Thanks. Link to comment
hohogap
I was successful last spring on a 4* which was the Westin in the DTW airport. If you like to be close and inside the airport, it's a great bid, even if it costs a bit more. Gary Link to comment

andyrewne
Had some time on my side and started at $65 to stay downtown at 3.5 or 4* hotel.Slowly (using free bid zones) and betterbidding PRICELINE link, worked my way up to $80 with no luck. I was losing patience, so increased bid from $80 to $90 and got the Greektown Hotel and Casino. Best rate online I could find was $129.00. I'm very please with hotel & location.PS - I'm travelling up to Ann Arbor to see my Huskers take on your Wolverines. We decided to spend an extra night in Detroit. Thanks for all you help. Go Big Red. :) Link to comment

thereuare
PS - I'm travelling up to Ann Arbor to see my Huskers take on your Wolverines.Enjoy your stay... but i won't wish you luck :PI was at opening day this year (took may little girls to their first game... they had a blast and it can only get better considering that was the game where it started about 95 degrees and sunny and then a storm came thru to make it about 65 degrees, cold, and wet! I've never seen it before, but they called the game on account of the weather midway thru the third quarter. At least we have a story to tell and they experienced some Michigan history!Have fun at the game and enjoy the Big House... if you've never been it's a great stadium. Regardless of the outcome, it should be an excellent game. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
andyrewne
Thanks again! The Big House has always been on my bucket list - never thought I'd see the Huskers play there, so this is extra special. Let's hope I get to see a full four quarters of this game and no weather delays. Link to comment
