cz4444 Posted November 11, 2011 Author Report Posted November 11, 2011 Hi,thanks for info.I want a good connection to the CDG airport. So I think Gare du Nord is the best. It can also be the CDG Marriott at the airport. So I could get easily to the city with the REM B. It's my first time in Paris. :)Any tipps I can get this Marriott or a good hotel near Gare du Nord. I saw some people won the Marriott for 65 USD. I want it also for that price or sth about 80 USD. The most important thing for me is the connection to the airport, because I am leaving 15.02 at 07.10am :/
cz4444 Posted November 11, 2011 Author Report Posted November 11, 2011 Which area should I'll choose to win the Marriott CDG? How much starting bid. I am from 13.02-15.02 in Paris. Is it easy to get to the center from there?Thx for help :)
thereuare Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates. The Marriott is in the Paris Airports (Airport Charles de Gaulle CDG) zone... if you enter 'CDG' in the search box on the top right of this page it will take you to the appropriate region. However, as per above, keep in mind there are numerous other 4* hotels in this zone which you could win and you're not bidding specifically on the Marriott.Alternately, if you enter "Paris France" in the search box you'll be shown different zones which are more city center.Much of your options will be determined by your budget, and if you can afford to stay closer to the city vs. by the airport i would recommend that. Given that you can't win the Marriott specifically, if you receive a different property, it would be time consuming to take the hotel shuttle to the airport (if offered) and then work your way towards the train station to travel into the city. While it's certainly do-able, it can sometimes look better on paper than in reality since there is always wait time to get the hotel shuttle and wait time for the train.. then the same on the return trip; with limited time in Paris i would spend a little more if possible to stay directly in the city. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Arriving at the CDG at 10am and leaving on 07.10am.Which hotel would be the best for me if'll have to leave so early? :/Any tipps how to get them? Which area should I'll choose? thereuare Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 See my previous post regarding not being able to bid on a specific hotel and needing to be able to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cz4444 Posted November 16, 2011 Author Report Posted November 16, 2011 i think la defense is an idea for you. take rer from or to the hotel.i just got a priceline win at $104 Isn't that far away from the CDG airport?Which hotel is it?
Rhine-and-Roses Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 NO ! ! La Defense is not close to CDG, nor is it on the same RER line. La Defense would be one of the worst choices as far as distance/convenience/connections. Although Thereuare recommends staying in the city, my opinion is with a flight that early, you'd do better to stay at the airport. You cannot guarantee a hotel, but if you could, you probably would find the Sheraton CDG more convenient. Marriott is on a pay per use shuttle that is notoriously off schedule and unreliable. (It is not the Marriott's fault- it is a private shuttle. I think all the airport hotels use it. If not all, quite a few.)My advice is to try to ID the Sheraton CDG on HOTWIRE. It is INSIDE the terminal and is wildly convenient. To go into Paris you just go downstairs, buy a ticket and take the RER train in. It is direct (with a good number of stops) to Gare du Nord, on to Chatelet Les Halles, then to the Left Bank. Sheraton is quiet, despite planes taking off right outside your window- triple panes. Taking the RER train to/from Paris, some of the suburbs are rough. Make sure you are on a well occupied train coming back at night. I do not like the Gare du Nord area. Not sure if you are male or female, but not a good area if you are a woman traveling alone. If you want to stay in the city, Gare du Nord area is cheaper if you are not worried about the area. Gare de Lyon area is nicer, but not right on the RER B. Look at where that line goes if it's important, and pick from those areas. www.ratp.fr (English button, then click on maps) Also check times to make sure you can get the RER early enough to catch your flight.
cz4444 Posted November 17, 2011 Author Report Posted November 17, 2011 Thanks for help. :)Any tips to get the Sheraton? Which amenities does the hotel have?
thereuare Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 You can see all hotels reported to the board in the Hotwire Hotel List.Feel free to ask the board to confirm what you think you're being offered before you commit to a purchase. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Rhine-and-Roses Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 Someone told me that the Hilton CdG is also connected to the RER system at Terminal 1. I see they are reported on Hotwire. You would probably want to call the hotel and verify that.
