Hotwire Hotel: Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or Boca Raton Bidding Help

I've used Priceline several times in the past and love it. I'm going to WrestleMania 28 in Miami 3/31/12 - 4/3/12. I don't mind staying in Fort Lauderdale or Boca Raton. I want a good deal on a hotel really no more than $100/night, less is better, near the beach preferred. I also don't want to stay in a roach coach either, lol! I've been looking online at prices for Priceline and just need some good advice on strategy and bidding please. I notice Hotwire has a condo in Fort LAuderdale, can you get condos with Priceline?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Please start by reading your messages.

When you bid on PRICELINE you must be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you select... there is no way to bid on a hotel 'near the beach'. The cities you've listed above are broken down into various zones... let us know which zone(s) are acceptable to you and we'll begin to have a look at this trip. Also, what is the minimum star rating you're willing to accept? Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive hotel at the minimum star rating threshold you designate?

We really need a bit more information to help you as your parameters are too wide (more often user's parameter are too narrow).

The distance from Miami to Boca Raton is about 60 miles, which puts a HUGE number of hotels within this distance. As well, i'd suggest keeping your minimum star rating well above 2 stars... while you may get a 2* hotel which goes beyond your expectations, you could also get a 2* hotel which may not meet your needs, and with PRICELINE you can't choose which type you will get ;) Unless your budget becomes an issue, which i don't suspect it will given how flexible you are in terms of the area, i would stick with at least 3* hotels; however, ultimately it's your trip and you know your needs best.

As well, whatever star rating you choose, are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel (while still keeping within your $100 budget) OR is your goal the least expensive hotel at the minimum star rating you designate.

Lastly, all three cities above are in different regions, so you can't bid them together, and therefore will need to decide what you want to try for first, and up to what price, before trying a different zone/region.

One more question...

Did you want to bid Miami up to $120, then if rejected, start over for Ft. Lauderdale.... or 'flip flop' between the two, Miami up to ~$80, then Ft. Lauderdale to ~$80, then back to Miami to ~$100, then Ft. Lauderdale to ~$100, then back to Miami to ~$120. The former is easier and quicker, the latter is more time consuming but gives you a chance at winning a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale for less than you might win in Miami up to your bidding limit.

Also, have you looked at the West Ft Lauderdale-Sawgrass Mills and West Ft Lauderdale-Plantation zones... i have looked extensively, but when doing some research for the above i think this may be one of the cheaper zones for this trip.

Let us know the above and we'll move forward.

I would prefer to be in Miami since that's where the event will be held, but really would like to make this a nice trip on a budget. So either way is fine. If I had a preference, it would be for the beach, but I would also rather have a hotel that does free parking if possible. I know I can't win them all lol.

And the West Ft. LAuderdale-Sawgrass and other zone is completely fine with me. I really just need a bargin and decent hotel. If I'm not near the beach its fine. I guess I can park near the beach and walk.

Also, I noticed this is in the HOTWIRE forums. I am using PRICELINE.

It comes down to what is more important to you... the location or budget.

The above doesn't tell us which of the two following bidding approaches you'd like to follows. We need to know the following:
