moesky Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 I'm hoping to bid for a hotel in NYC on 11/29/11-12/2/11. I imagine this is a very busy time of the year. To start off, does anyone have some input on what prices I can expect through Priceline for these dates? I'm looking into 4* hotels in Manhattan. Zones include: CPS,MTE,MTW, TSThanks!

thereuare Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 For a 4* hotel you're likely looking ~$250-$275... a 3*/3.5* property may get you closer to the $200 area.Let us know if this is within your expected budget and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. moesky Posted November 11, 2011 Author Report Posted November 11, 2011 I would prefer a 4 star. I am taking my son and would need 2 beds. Is that a problem"?Thanks
AaronJB Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 The issue with PRICELINE is that it only guarantees one bed/double occupancy; while two beds can be requested with the hotel, NYC rooms are smaller overall - some (even at some upscale properties) do not have enough room for a rollaway. While some areas are definitely less problematic, in terms of two beds, there is a definite risk when using PRICELINE in NYC that you will not get two beds. How many adults/children are in your party? If more than two, HOTWIRE would be a better choice, as if you indicate more than two people on HOTWIRE, that should ensure some form of bedding for the entire party.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted November 11, 2011 Report Posted November 11, 2011 In reference to the above, by searching HOTWIRE for quad occupancy you 'force' two beds in the room. However, note that the second 'bed' could be a rollaways, pullout sofabed, etc... and that room rates, especially in NYC, will often go up when searching for more than double occupancy.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
