Beckles Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 I may have overpaid since this was accepted on the first bid, was bidding for a 3-1/2 star in both Airport DFW North and Airport DFW South and got upgraded to this 4 star on the first bid. Bummer to get an 'airport' hotel without an airport shuttle (one of my coworkers could have used it).
AaronJB Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 Sorry to hear that the result was a disappointment, but hopefully it will work out okay. Thank you for letting us know about this new PRICELINE property so that we can update the site's Priceline Hotel List.I'm seeing a $249 rate on Expedia, so this was still certainly an excellent discount.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
Beckles Posted November 11, 2011 Author Report Posted November 11, 2011 FYI, $16.24/night resort fee (with tax) and $18.40/night for self-parking (with tax).
MommaKaty Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 I have had this happen to me, so sad to get a 4 star when I had my heart set on a 2.5 star. I dont like that they do this, its like bait and switch. We studied the forums when we went to Reno and settled on a 2.5, which we bid on, and got a mandatory upgrade to a 4star, which we didnt want due to the fact it was a casino hotel, plus I have to add this, The hotel we got WAS a 4star BUT they had online rates cheaper than our $45 bid. We were not happy at all. So bidding on priceline did NO good AND we were locked into the entire 5days at a hotel we were unhappy with. We could have gone to the hotel website and got cheaper rates, AND reservations which could be canceled or changed, UNLIKE Priceline's policy of no changes no refunds.
thereuare Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 We studied the forums when we went to Reno and settled on a 2.5...Glad to hear the board was helpful with your research and purchase, but it would have been appreciated if you also shared your win with the board so that the information could help others, just as you had been helped by those who posted before you. ;)We could have gone to the hotel website and got cheaper rates...PRICELINE does have a Best Rate Guarantee which you could have used to have the price matched plus a $25 refund. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Jane361 Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 I had been planning to bid on a 3.5* at DFW south and DFW north. Now I will just book directly with a hotel site. I DO NOT want a hotel with no shuttle. :(
MommaKaty Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 What I am saying is the forum/board was Not helpful! Because after studying which hotel won the bidding most often, They(Priceline) automatically switched me (upgraded me to a 4star) which I did not want. If I had wanted the most often 4star I would have placed a bid on a 4star, but the system Automatically upgraded me. They think I should be happy with getting an upgrade but I was not, so all my research proved futile.Priceline should not think that upgrading is what will make us happy, when we choose a certain star level because we WANT a certain star level.
thereuare Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 What I am saying is the forum/board was Not helpful!Just because you aren't aware of PRICELINE's rules and how they operate doesn't mean the board wasn't helpful. Perhaps if you had asked for help and/or confirmed your strategy before bidding somebody here may have been able to point out the flaw in your logic.Same goes for your issue with finding a better price elsewhere... if you had posted your win (so that others can do research and learn from your bids/mistakes, just as you had done research from the information of those who posted before you), then perhaps we could have pointed out PRICELINE's Best Rate Guarantee and you may still actually have saved money for this trip.It would still be appreciated if you shared your Reno win with the board. If you choose to use PRICELINE in the future feel free to ask the board for help before you bid.
