ICGSAP Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 Hi all,Have been very successful in the past on Priceline thanks to your help and am here to try to come up with a strategy again. I'm hoping to bid for a hotel in NYC on 12/7/11-12/8/11. I imagine this is a very busy time of the year. To start off, does anyone have some input on what prices I can expect through Priceline for these dates? I'm looking into 3-4* hotels in Manhattan. Zones include: CPS, Chelsea, Downtown, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, TS Thanks!
AaronJB Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 This is definitely a very busy time of year for NYC; what would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
ICGSAP Posted November 7, 2011 Author Report Posted November 7, 2011 I'm hoping no more than $200 if possible. I've had better luck bidding about 10 days before the check-in date but wanted to see what you thought about bidding before then?
thereuare Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 I'm guessing:4* $325-$3503.5* $275-$3253* $200-$225As far as when to bid, see the Bid Early or Close to Check-in Link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Let us know what you're ready to begin bidding and the star rating you want to try for first and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ICGSAP Posted November 7, 2011 Author Report Posted November 7, 2011 Thanks for the reply. I'll take the FAQ's advice-- since my plans are firm, I'll bid early making sure that I don't overbid. I'd like to start with a 4* strategy first if possible.. willing to go up to $200 with the following zones: CPS, Chelsea, Downtown, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, TSThank you.

ICGSAP Posted November 8, 2011 Author Report Posted November 8, 2011 Thanks for the strategy. I tried the 4* one and the following 3.5* one without luck (I adjusted the prices based on a previous strategy you provided). I would be willing to shoot for a 3* strategy next... I think you outlined one for me before that I can use. ICGSAP Posted November 8, 2011 Author Report Posted November 8, 2011 thereuare,I'm thinking of waiting closer to my check-in date to book.. do you think this is advisable? If I can't get anything in Manahttan in about 2-3 weeks, I was thinking I could stay in Jersey and take the PATH in.
AaronJB Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 The FAQ provides a detailed discussion of timing; waiting until the last minute does not always work, and rates can certainly go higher.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
ICGSAP Posted December 13, 2011 Author Report Posted December 13, 2011 I wanted to close this thread by letting you know I ended up staying with a friend in the city since I could not book a hotel within my price range. Thanks for your help.
