ghel0050 Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 Thanks in advance!Going to NYC with my wife Dec 16-18th (fri and sat night).Looking for a 4* hotel in a cool area (don't know the city but heard soho cool/trendy, same with chelsea). Looking to spend no more than $130. Is this even possible? Price more important than location but would love 4* or above. open to all suggestions and thanks in advance for your help!
thereuare Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 At the moment $130 will not likely be enough for a 4* hotel.. come two days later and it might be, but you're right on the cusp of high/low season and while rates usually break somewhere around mid-December, at this point in time it doesn't look like the rates are dropping until after the weekend on Sunday nite (although this could change over time)Besides your budget, the other issue you face is that with PRICELINE you can't choose the exact location of the hotel you receive... Soho is part of the larger Downtown zone and should you win a hotel in this area it might be in Soho, but it may just as easily be in the Financial District. You should look at the PRICELINE map of this area to determine which zone(s) you're willing to accept a property anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone, but given that your budget is currently low for these dates, i would sooner focus on finding a good deal on a property in an area that is convenient for getting around the city, than the actual area surrounding the hotel. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
