Yonson17 Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 I need to book a downtown hotel on short notice for November 11-13. I am interested in trying to secure a 4* hotel for 2 nights that has a pool. Do you have any advice on how to bid in order to increase my chances of getting a hotel with a pool area $ amount, etc.)? What should I expect to pay? Thanks in advanceYonson
thereuare Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! When bidding on PRICELINE you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level, or higher, that you select... there is no way to target, or avoid, a particular property (which does/doesn't have the amenity(s) you're looking for)If you want a hotel with a pool, HOTWIRE would be better option as you can choose a hotel which shows a pool icon (although you should also try to take a reasonable guess as to the hotel being offered since there is no assurance the pool will be an indoor one and open in November). The trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, but you'll know the amenities offered by the hotel before your purchase. What is your maximum bid for this stay?Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Yonson17 Posted November 8, 2011 Author Report Posted November 8, 2011 I'd say I'm looking to pay between $65-70 if the availability isn't really limited. For 2 nights accomodation I'd like to play $200 w/ taxes.
thereuare Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 What about the Pool... is that a must have or a 'want'?Please read your messages and click each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links before replying.Thanks. Yonson17 Posted November 9, 2011 Author Report Posted November 9, 2011 It's a want. I think my best bet is to try and locate 3.5* DoubleTree in the Bloomington area. Seems like out of the business sector hotels have pools and free parking. The purpose of my trip is shopping for my home (Ikea, etc.), so this will serve my purposes best. Do you agree?
thereuare Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Please read your messages...2xI think my best bet is to try and locate 3.5* DoubleTree in the Bloomington area. While this hotel is being won frequently of late, there is no way to bid on, or target, a specific hotel... so how would you go about "trying to locate" this particular property? When bidding on PRICELINE you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you select.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
