SprinklyCupcake Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 First and foremost I must state how beautiful Rome was, it's simply breath-taking. Now, with that being said, I wish I could say the same for this particular hotel: "Hotel Morgana". Here are a list of things that I was not pleased with during my July 2011 stay (July 20-28th).1) Check in time was incorrect online/or at the check-in reception desk. We had to wait 4 hours to check in, beyond what were were initially told. Flying from Canada (or USA) to Rome then having to wait 4 hours is pretty chaotic, and insanely tiring.2) Rooms were not portrayed properly. Our room had dust in the corners, the tv did not work, the shower leaked, and the bathroom frankly smelled like mold. We asked hotel staff if we could have a new room and they were beyond rude to us, and told us that was impossible as they were completely booked (yeah right, and I won the lottery last weekend). The beds were horrific, it was like sleeping on a slab of granite. The elevators are not even wide enough to hold 3 people and luggage, they are tiny and feel like your a turkey cooking in an oven. If someone had an accident on the 5th floor and needed an ambulance and a stretcher, they would have to carry it down the stairs. 3) Charged my credit card for things we did not book, use, or order. It was then a massive hassle to try to get everything reversed.4) Would not book outings for us to see attractions within Rome, even though a sign stated that this was free of charge. In Rome, many tours must be booked in advance (a couple days- a day) and without this reservation it is next to impossible to see a large portion of attractions. Another problem arrises in that I do not speak Italian, so I could not book these tours myself. I had to pay the front desk to call and arrange a tour (aside from the cost of the actual admission to the tour) just so that it was booked.5) Tried to charge us for breakfasts even though we did not eat at the hotel even a single time.We booked this hotel from Priceline, and it appears "Hotel Morgana" is a frequent "winning bid" hotel in Rome, listed as 4*....I would say with complete certainty this should have been a 2* hotel. I would not stay here ever again, and I strongly recommend that people veer away from this one.
