chrispee Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 Hi guys, I've been bidding on Poipu to try to get the Sheraton for the past couple of weeks. Bids up to $102 have been rejected so far. I realize that my price is pretty ambitious for this property, but my cancellable backup is the Cottages at Poipu Kai for $79 per night so I'm not super motivated to go any higher than $100ish. I'll keep you guys posted if I "get struck by lightning" and am actually successful in this price range! Any feedback from people who have stayed in the Poipu Kai resort would be appreciated as well...
thereuare Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Two weeks can be a fairly long stay in PRICELINE / HOTWIRE terms. Not sure if it will help, but if you're willing to stay at different properties you may want to also consider SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID... even just one nite wtihin your date range where the Sheraton (or any other hotel) doesn't offer PRICELINE inventory will eliminate that property for the possible outcomes. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated on your progress and let us know if we can be of further help along the way. chrispee Posted November 13, 2011 Author Report Posted November 13, 2011 After consideration, we have chosen to give up on bidding to win the Sheraton Poipu (of Hyatt) for our stay this time. Hotwire.com shows the Sheraton for $125 per night during our stay, but I haven't lucked out and won it with bids up to $110 on Priceline.com and I've come to the realization that my heart's just not in it anyhow given that our cancellable backup is so good at $79 per night (including parking and wifi). So, we're officially abandoning ship and paying retail to stay at the Cottages at Poipu Kai.
thereuare Posted November 13, 2011 Report Posted November 13, 2011 Glad you're happy with the back-up hotel and the decision you have made for this trip. Thanks for the update and closing this thread. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
