lezgar Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 Hi there, I am looking for Las Vegas 5* hotel for two rooms for two nights, 11/25 and 11/26. My desire is the north strip, though I'd be willing to stay south strip if it's all i could get. Before joining this forum, I had bid up to $95 and areas to include boulder, freemont, henderson, in addition to north and south strip. Now that i'm here, my next move will be from your link, however, what would you advise? Thanks in advance.
AaronJB Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Please provide your desired max bid per night and we would be happy to suggest options on how to proceed.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
lezgar Posted November 1, 2011 Author Report Posted November 1, 2011 not sure, i guess around $120? based on what i've seen here for similar dates.
thereuare Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 At the moment i don't think you're budget is going to be a problem, but please confirm... did you want to bid up to $120 (or some other price) before including Strip South in your bidding... OR is your goal the least expensive 5* hotel in either zone? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board... and please click this PRICELINE link before replying.THANKS! lezgar Posted November 2, 2011 Author Report Posted November 2, 2011 I would prefer least expensive, but we will already be at the Venetian immediately prior to those dates, which were booked at $134 through the hotel directly months ago, so I was hoping to save some money on the remaining nights. It really would be great not to have to check out and luck into winning a bid for the Venetian though wouldn't it? rather than pack and move for two nights? Also, in general do you see prices moving for Thanksgiving time in Las Vegas and would I be better served to wait until closer in or do prices typically go up as you get closer?thanks for your input!

AaronJB Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 you can get a hotel at City Center 5 star/casino property for a 70.00 bid worked for me during that week in NovemberMrVegas,Welcome to Betterbidding. :)It would be greatly appreciated if you could post the details of your win as a separate thread. Thanks.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
lezgar Posted November 15, 2011 Author Report Posted November 15, 2011 Hi thereuare and AaronB,I have made several attempts using your PRICELINE link over the past few weeks with no success going up to $95. I have now decided that we only want to be on the north strip and am a little nervous about adding the zones without input from you. which are safe zones to include in biddig for a 5* on north strip. I thought I saw a recent post that discussed addition of a 5* at the airport or something like that, but I couldn't locate it to be sure.Is the only way to ensure north strip by bidding w/increasing price? or what would be the zones I can add that will keep us from the Trump condo and other parts of the strip, but still in 5*?thanks in advance.
thereuare Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 You need to know how to determine your re-bid zones on your own since they should to be checked before starting every bidding cycle. Here is the thread on re-bidding: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedIf there is too much information in that thread and you find it confusing, try this:1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'Las Vegas' and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further. Otherwise confirm your re-bid zones with the board and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. lezgar Posted November 16, 2011 Author Report Posted November 16, 2011 Hi and thanks for your reply. I am continuing the bidding game and totally understand the concept of zones as it relates to desired stars/location. However, I guess I am still confused with some zones that appear when you bid but are not present in the hotel listings of the priceline website.Specifically, I have bid:N. StripBoulderFremontHendersonNear LV EastNear LV WestI am upto $104 and the remaining areas are Lake Las VegasLas Vegas AirportLas Vegas Convention CenterSTrip North CondoStrip vicinity southNW Las VegasNellisSummerlinhowever, these areas are not relatable to the areas the website breaks out (except south strip, and north strip condo), so what to do now? I am looking to resolve this today/tomorrow and would appreciate your usual quick reply so I can continue bidding. Again, I am trying to get a 5* in North Strip.thanks.
thereuare Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 I guess I am still confused with some zones that appear when you bid but are not present in the hotel listings of the priceline website. You shouldn't be using the retail side of PRICELINE at all. As per above, please follow these steps and let us know if it is now clearer:If there is too much information in that thread and you find it confusing, try this:1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'Las Vegas' and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. lezgar Posted November 18, 2011 Author Report Posted November 18, 2011 I am following your logic, following your link, and ready to give up. I continue to include boulder, fremont, henderson, lv east and west, in addition to the strip north that i'm trying to get. I'm upto $126 and still not getting results. unless you can give me assurance that the following have no 5* hotels (lake las vegas, las airport, convention center, nw las vegas, nellis, summerlin), i will likely switch gears and stop playing the bidding game.

lezgar Posted November 30, 2011 Author Report Posted November 30, 2011 Just closing the loop on this trip. We did not get the results we wanted bidding here to Priceline....meaning no offer up to $136 (well past our initial reserve) for any 5* hotel in the North strip was accepted. We ended up using a third party site to take a special for our last two nights at the Luxor, which was a third of the price for those nights and probably a third of the hotel. Thanks anyway
