Priceline Hotel: Bidding Assistance Request - Chicago 11/12-11/14

Hello,

Looking for a tiny bit of help with bidding for Chicago. The trip plan is for 11/12-11/14, 2 rooms. I had targeted the 4* Hyatt O'Hare Regency in ORD South I do believe. I had past success with this hotel for $46 a night. Unfortunately with numerous rebids and price increases, I still couldn't get in at $62 a night which is a bit disappointing.

I don't have a desire to go beyond $65 in that area which I believe should be reasonable. I may have to go to 3.5* but it would have to be reasonable in comparison to my original target property and hopefully near a line, whether it be blue or something. I picked that O'Hare area due being really familiar with it.

Is it possible the two rooms are causing me some issues?

Of course, once I have some idea of how to go about this..I'll be using the PRICELINE hotlink.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Rates are not high for these dates, and given your current rejection at $62, why not look at staying downtown for just a bit more? You could probably get a 4* hotel in the Loop or NMA area for about $100... a 3* hotel for perhaps $90 or so. Even if you could success on your next round of bidding at $65, add in the cost of commuting (2 people each way per day) is another $10 or so, and for just a bit more you can have the convenience of staying Downtown and add a few extra hours of vacation time to your trip (as that time wouldn't be spend commuting from ORD to downtown each day)

I realize it may be more than you originally intended on spending, but given you're not close to your original target in the $40' and already in the $60's... perhaps a sub-$100 3.5* or 3* hotel would be worth the convenience?

Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there.

I appreciate your insight on my travel conundrum. While it seems downtown looks like a good option for us, we are driving into Chicago and the $50 a night parking is a bitter pill to swallow versus the $22 I believe the Hyatt charges up in the Rosemont area.

If you're driving, you could consider some of the 'burbs - where most (if not all) hotels offer free parking. You could then take the nicer Metra trains into the city.
