marcus83 Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Hi,we go to New York City from the 11/29 to 12/06 and searching for a room in MTE/MTW or the ESB Area. Our max. will be around 150-160$ . Do we have any chance to get something in this area for this price?Thanksmarcus
thereuare Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! My initial guess is that $160 will not likely be enough for a hotel in these zones for these dates, which is a very expensive time in NYC. However, we don't see much 2.5* bidding in NYC as we usually don't recommend it since the quality of the lower rated hotels can be so different from one property to the next... you could land a diamond in the rough; or you could land a place which you wish you had spent a little more money. There certainly wouldn't be any harm in trying. Not sure how flexible your plans are but if you could somehow delay your trip by 2 weeks you'll likely find much lower rates starting around 12/16.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. marcus83 Posted November 1, 2011 Author Report Posted November 1, 2011 Hi,as i can see, Coney Island will be my re-bid zone, because there are only shown 1 and 2* moderate hotels. So i will start with 3* MTE and 130$, if rejected i add Coney Island and bid 140$ Than go on the same way with 3* MTW, 3* ESB and so on..Right?Marcus
marcus83 Posted November 1, 2011 Author Report Posted November 1, 2011 Ok, tried all but had no success :(
thereuare Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 Given you were turned down up to your $160 limit, what is your current gameplan / thoughts:-raise your budget-lower your star rating-consider other nearby zone and/or staying outside of Manhattan-SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID-wait it out and hope for lower prices in the weeks aheadLet us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
