Hotwire Hotel: Figuring out hotwire 4 star south strip

Hi,

I used your link for PRICELINE and put in a bid of $126 for a 5 star hotel on the south strip. Important, because we need to be reasonably close to the Luxor. I was hoping to get the Vdara. However, priceline went through the bidding process, and declined us... but then offered us an immediate second opportunity to bid for $45 higher at $171. Is this normal?? I have used priceline many times, but this is quite different.(see more info in quotes below)

Comments are welcome, but my bottom line is trying to book a 5 star on the south strip for November 10-15. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Trader

"Please verify the following information to continue with your request.

Please increase your price by at least $45.

Try Again Right Now

We searched hundreds of options to find your hotel room, however we can't accept your offer of $126 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged for Request Number ###-###-###-##. If you are willing to raise your price by $45 to $171 per room, per night, you can try the same request again right now.

Normally you are required to change additional items (add zones, star level, or dates) in order to try your request again. However we are able to extend this one-time opportunity to you because of the zone, quality level and dates you requested. "

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Counter-offers from the service are seen at times. A counter-offer means that, if you moved up to $171 right now, you are very likely to be accepted.

However, the actual *required* bid to win is highly likely somewhere in-between your last rejected bid of $126 and the $171 counter-offer. It may even be not terribly far higher than your last rejected bid.

You do have a bit of time, so I would recommend moving higher by $5's using re-bidding ($131, if that isn't accepted $136, etc.) in an attempt to find the required price rather than taking the counter-offer.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Hotwire is showing a 4 star hotel on the south strip for $130 (Cad). I would really appreciate any help identifying what hotel this might be. We need to stay near the Luxor, but I really don't want to stay there. Not when there is so many other better choices!

I've tried bidding up 5 star hotels on priceline, went as high as $141 a night... but nothing. Seeing how I need to be in the south strip side, I don't think I can bid in the other zones without the danger of winning somewhere else.

Appreciate your easy links to HOTWIRE and PRICELINE, I've been coming back and using them.

Please keep all posts regarding this stay within this thread. Thanks.

Additionally, please provide the amenity icons showing with the 4* South Strip listing if you would like us to ID. You can bid for 5* South on PRICELINE, as well - please let us know if you would like to go that route.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
