PolyNate Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Hi,Looking for rooms at the Palazzo, Ventian or Wynn for these date. I've actually done this before but it's been a couple years and I forgot how the "system" works. lol Thereuare was a big help BTW Appreciate you're still here!Anyways, I still need to read up on the process of bidding but how much should I start? I can get the room at their site for $200/night. Would $90 be a good start?TIANate
PolyNate Posted October 28, 2011 Author Report Posted October 28, 2011 OK. Here is my game plan. One win on the calendar on here got sat for $99. So I'm thinking: 1st bid: 5* LV Strip North $902nd bid: Add Henderson $1003rd bid: Add Fremont St. $1104th bid: Add Airport LAS $1205th bid: Add Lake LV $130Would that be right? Just want to make sure before I bid. Or should I lower my increments to $5?TIANate
thereuare Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Welcome back :)When bidding for a 5* hotel in Vegas you have ELEVEN re-bid zones, so i would likely bid in smaller increments.Let us know your maximum bid for this stay and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. PolyNate Posted October 28, 2011 Author Report Posted October 28, 2011 I've bid 8 times so far. Started at $95. Up to $130 and still no go. I still have Boulder strip, NW LV, Nellis, Summerlin(It has resorts but no ratings) left.I didn't find any of these on the list on top of this forum so I didn't want to risk it.I'll try again tomorrow and start at $110.Could it be because of the weekend? Am I better off just waiting until Mon or Tues and making my bids then?
thereuare Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 As per the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List you DON'T want to use the hotel lists to determine your re-bid zones... you need to use the technique discussed here: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedPlease read the previous thread and ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board, we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. PolyNate Posted October 30, 2011 Author Report Posted October 30, 2011 Thank for the links! I know what to do now. Sorry about that. Tried again today. Went to $140 and still got rejected.going to try again on Tuesday. Maybe there will be better deals after the Halloween madness.
thereuare Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 You could probably succeed for a 5* hotel in the Strip South zone, which you you may not want to do at this exact point in time, but something to think about if your bids continue to get turned down at higher prices. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck! PolyNate Posted November 2, 2011 Author Report Posted November 2, 2011 Won bid for 150. Was hoping for $120 range but probably would've gotten it if reserved earlier.BTW: Does the number of rooms have an impact on the bid? I needed 2 rooms and was wonder if getting 1 room would've gotten me a better deal
thereuare Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you were successful in your preferred Strip North zone and are happy with the results. Two rooms is usually a non-event, but if it does have an effect, it's to the downside since a hotel needs to offer two rooms, not just one, at the deepest discounted rate.Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
