jtoth Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Greetings, first time on here. I'd love some suggestions on a strategy for a pricelining an NYC hotel 3-4*ideally Chelsea, Downtown, or Empire State (but anything Central Park South and below in Manhattan will do)$100-150 / night*note* this would be for triple occupancy - 3 adults. i've read in other posts that this is not advisable for nyc. is it ever possible to add a pullout bed or cot when at the hotel if only 1-bed rooms are available? Many thanks,jt
thereuare Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!*note* this would be for triple occupancy - 3 adults. i've read in other posts that this is not advisable for nyc. is it ever possible to add a pullout bed or cot when at the hotel if only 1-bed rooms are available?Yes, it's sometimes possible... but other times it is not. In fact, there are some hotels in NYC where a cot wouldn't fit in the room and some hotels don't have them on hand. This is a risk you'll need to decide if it's worth taking. If not, then HOTWIRE may be your better option as you can search for up to quad occupancy. However, have you looked at rates for these dates yet, as while not impossible, i think $150 may even be a bit of a reach for a double occupancy room for these dates.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jtoth Posted October 28, 2011 Author Report Posted October 28, 2011 Yes, it seems it is a stretch. Based on a model you suggested to someone else, I pitched the following bids and came up with nada. I'm wondering if I'm running into trouble because of the marathon on the 6th. Might help to search for just 11/1-11/3 and separate the last day. that and i might venture into 2.5 or 2* territory.thanks for your help,jt$120 4* DSF ESB$130 re-bid zone$140 re-bid zone$120 4* CA MSG$130 re-bid zone$140 re-bid zone$115-$150 3.5* DSF ESB$120-$150 3.5* CA MSG$120-$145 3* DSF ESB$130-$150 3.5* CA MSG
thereuare Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 You can try to bid just the first 2 nites on their own as it certainly wouldn't hurt, but i don't think it will help much either... i think the problem you're facing is that current rates are higher for these dates (seasonally it's one of the busiest times in NYC) and at the moment $150 just isn't enough for these dates. What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
