Tutinde37 Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 I have been bidding on Hotels in Las Vegas for this trip for quite some time, but with no luck. The days I am bidding for are Thursday November 3rd to Sunday November 6th. I am wondering if anyone knows of some event going on there that weekend? I looked around and can't find anything. The reason I think something is up is because on Caesars website it asks $400 for a room on Thursday and only $200 on friday saturday. Whats the deal with that. Anyways I know its late in the game, but I'm still bidding. I've spent most of my time lowballing the Strip South Zone 5* for $120 a night, but perhaps I need to up my game or just say to hell with Thursday night and travel Friday. I have seen a Trump deal for $114 a night for Friday/Saturday perhaps I'll take that and try to bid somewhere else. Any help or advice would be great. And yes I've checked the calendar of wins. Thanks.
Romelle Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 You are right, Thursday is your problem night. When I checked Hotwire one night at a time, Thur $312, Fri 174 and Sat 186 for 5* Strip South. Las Vegas is tough to bid. Hotel sometimes offering better specials via their web site and/or mailings than one can get via bidding. Hope something works for you.Romelle
tdshort Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 The SEMA Auto Show is going on that week so that is the reason for the inflated prices. They are always high during that show.
thereuare Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 tdshort,Thanks for the info regarding the auto show.Tutinde37,How about trying to bid 11/4-11/7, then if that is rejected try again for 11/5-11/7... if either of these are successful then 'fill-in' the additional nite(s) needed by staying off strip, lower rated property, or starting your trip a day later then expected.Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Tutinde37 Posted October 27, 2011 Author Report Posted October 27, 2011 Thanks for the responses, it helps to know the reason why it is so inflated. I had been trying for Friday/Saturday night bidding, with the plan to stay elsewhere on Thursday. I bid today and Won! The Aria 5* South Strip for 135/ night for Friday, Saturday. I'm very excited about this, it's a big weight off my shoulders. I think we will stay at the Microtel Inn by the Outlets. Thanks for your help.
Tutinde37 Posted October 27, 2011 Author Report Posted October 27, 2011 Been trying to get this for a month, very happy about the win.
