I'm trying to snatch a room in Downtown St Louis 4* hotel (preferably Hyatt at the Arch)for next week, on Priceline.com. Does anyone know how much should I bid?

While there are lots of variables here, a reasonably safe start in 50% of the Priceline retail side rate. Of course you have to be willing to accept ANY 4* hotel within the map boundaries. You don't have a lot of time, so you might want to learn about free rebidding. It is the first post in the General Priceline Tips area.

How much should I bid on the 4* Hyatt Regency Riverfront (aka Hyatt Regency at the Arch) hotel for one room for the first week of November 2011 stay?

Any suggestions?

From November 2 to November 7 and I think this hotel (Hyatt Regency Riverfront) is the only 4* hotel in downtown St Louis. Unfortunately, either because of the World Series (even though the games will be finished in 2 days) or upcoming Rams - Saints game this Sunday, the hotel charges more. Last year I was able to get it for around $50 per night for the exactly same time of the year.

If you bid 4* in this zone, you have to be willing to accept any of the 4*'s in this zone (there is no way to bid for a particular property); are you looking only for the Hyatt, or would you be willing to accept a different 4*?

I think this hotel (Hyatt Regency Riverfront) is the only 4* hotel in downtown St Louis.

From the Priceline Hotel List there are at least 5 hotels in this zone that are rated 4 stars.

For this complete stay i think you will likely need to bid in excess of $100 (perhaps well in excess)

However, rates are higher for 11/2-11/4 than for 11/4-11/7 which could make SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option. I think you could be successful for 11/4-11/17 at a 4* hotel for under $100/nite... but 11/2-11/4 will be much more difficult, and you may need to consider raising your budget for these nites, lowering your star rating, or considering a nearby zone.

Not sure of your budget or if you're willing to change hotels mid-stay, but using the above as a guideline, let us know your thoughts as to how you'd like to proceed, and we'll advise accordingly.

I stopped at $117 for 11/2 - 11/7 4* in Downtown St. Louis. I am not paying more only because some idiots Texas Rangers and New Orleans Saints fans decided to overstay their welsome. Thanks for the help, though.
