HI Oahu Sheraton Waikiki

We enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton Waikiki in February 2011. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the Waikiki strip. It was wonderful to be directly on the beach instead of having to cross the road or walk to the beach. With our 2 year old, we could go swimming in the resort pool, and then walk directly onto Waikiki beach and find a spot on the sand to relax in the sun. The location also contributes to a lower than expected amount of traffic noise.

Our room was on the 12th floor, and had a nice view of the city with a partial ocean view. We definitely lucked out, as the lower floors would have a view of the rooftop and the commercial loading area. The room was tastefully furnished with a modern style, and quite large. There was plenty of storage, and the bathroom was nice enough. We also had a fairly large lanai with comfortable patio furniture. The room featured a king sized bed and linens that was very comfortable. The air conditioning was also a pleasant surprise as it was both effective and quiet compared to other a/c units I've had to try to sleep through. One downside was that the hotel's commercial loading area seemed to have trucks coming in early and the beeping etc was a bit noisy. Another minor criticism was that the housekeeping service was a bit inconsistent with their cleaning and replenishing of supplies, but we have also noticed this at a few of the other hotels we've stayed at in Hawaii.

The hotel itself is huge, and there is a shopping area on the main floor. We did not try out the restaurants or bars in the hotel as there were so many other options within a short walk. We did have a couple of meals in the Royal Hawaiian shopping center to save a few bucks, and found it to be a pretty economical and entertaining place to eat. In the evenings there was always live Hawaiian music, and there is an outdoor lanai sitting area in the food court. There are also a couple of good cafes if you're looking for a quick breakfast and/or coffee in the morning. An added bonus is you never have to cross a street to get to all of this, it's just a nice stroll out of the hotel and through the gardens.

Overall it was a great stay for us at the Sheraton Waikiki, and we'd be happy to win this hotel again on Priceline.com.
