fuboy56 Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 Hi,I need some advise. I am planning to rent a economy/compact car at MCO, Orlando. How much should I start the bidding price at PL? I checked online and the prices seems ridiculous high.Thank you for the help!Regards
thereuare Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! You're traveling during a peak time in the area, with schools out for winter break and lots of families taking Disney vacations during this time... what is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels? (what is the daily rate and all-in rate)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fuboy56 Posted October 21, 2011 Author Report Posted October 21, 2011 Found these on PL. It ranges from 600 679 per week. It is interesting to note that although I am booking the car for 5 days, PL quoted me for a week's rate.
thereuare Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 Usually once you hit five days, the weekly rate is less than the daily rate x 5.Will you be in the immediate area for the length of this trip and/or need a car for the entire period? If you'll be local to the airport for the entire trip, and you're willing to return the car and re-rend a new car under a new contract, i think you can bring this down to ~$550 or so (possibly at a bit better), but you'll have to decide of the savings are worth traveling to the airport to return, and pick-up a new vehicle with a new contract/paperwork.Let us know your thoughts. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fuboy56 Posted October 22, 2011 Author Report Posted October 22, 2011 Tks for the advise on the weekly rate vs daily rate. Definitely learnt something new. I can make the trip to the airport. No issue with that. However, the price is considered steep? Am I right to conclude that way?Tks
thereuare Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 Yes, the price is steep, but a factor of supply vs. demand. Rental companies have a fixed number of cars and during this time they'll likely be in high demand. If you choose to wait to see if rates drop between now and your arrival, i would definitely book a fully refundable back-up reservation to protect yourself from rates rising even further or cars selling out.If/when you're ready to move forward with a non-refundable purchase let us know and we'll advise accordingly based upon current rates. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
