Hey everyone

I am new to this but I need a place for my parents Nov 3 - Nov 6 in NYC. I was hoping to get a 4* if possible the area is less important since they have never been to the city they will not mind staying anywhere. Plus I am a medical student so price is far more important!!! I am more comfortable with priceline but so far I have not gotten any bids accepted.. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hey Guys thanks

I haven't tried too much just up to 180 per night in soho mainly, I added some of the rebid zones as I moved the price up from 150 I added in times square but I think that was it. I am hoping to keep it at or less than 200 (before taxes) per night but like I said before the region was not too big of a deal they want to visit places all over the city and I am living in Brooklyn so we will be commuting anyways. Any advice on the least expensive zones or hotels and what I should be bidding is appreciated. I can move down to 3.5 also if necessary. Thanks

At current rates i think a 4* hotel (and possibly even a 3.5*) at $200 or less is going to be tough, but we can certainly suggest a strategy for you to try.

At the 4* level is UWS, which goes pretty far north and would be a long commute to/from Brooklyn be acceptable?

At the 3.5* level are the ok with a very small room (such as the Hudson Hotel) or if the subway was a 15 minute walk away (like the Millennium UN)?

Also, if you fail above at the $200 mark (or want to consider even before bidding that high) HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in Brooklyn for $109/nite with Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet icons. At $109 this would be a pretty substantial savings vs. what it would likely cost to stay in Manhattan for these dates, and (depending upon where you live in Brooklyn) have them closer to you for this stay (as well as experience what it's like living in your neighborhood, your daily commute, etc)

Let us know your thoughts/comments on the above and we'll take it from there.

Any area in Manhattan is fine. Brooklyn would be ok, at that price, but I dont know where you found that exactly I just checked hotwire but cant find it? I thought there was only two four star hotels in Brooklyn both near the park slope area. As long as they are not by either of the airports (those are long commutes) I would be fine with that. I live in bed-stuy/bushwick so more south but I live at the hospital so I would rather them be able to go venture out on there own thus why I originally was shooting more for the city. Is this just a bad weekend or what?? Let me know what you think about my chances in the city or where I can find that price exactly in BK from hotwire? Thanks a ton I appreciate all of your help.

When searching for Brooklyn, NY for 11/3-6, I'm seeing a 4* for $109. You may want to try searching for Brooklyn instead of NYC. NYC is generally expensive/extremely expensive during the early half of the Winter until around midway through December.
