Did I mess up? For the last 2 months there has been a 4* hotel on Hotwire.com from 163-167. (looking over the past bids it could have been Sheraton) well now that i am ready to book (the 20% less bids on Priceline) the only 4* on hotwire is a condo for 260! Does it happen often that new inventoru pops up or should i go down to a 3*?

Do you experts think I have enough time to wait it out a few more weeks?

I watched another city for a long time - Istanbul. Things popped up and down regularly on Hotwire. You've got three months, which is plenty of time.

I did ultimately nab a good deal, but there later was posted an even better one. Patience is a virtue.

For that matter, the population of hotels on Priceline has no particular connection to the population on Hotwire. Why not start your bidding now at what you consider a good rate? You can always push higher later.

And what is available on Priceline changes regularly also. There are reports of people bidding minutes later to pick up another room - same city, same zone, same dates, same star level, same $$ bid. And they receive an entirely different hotel the second time.

I did start bidding this week in hopes I could still nab a decent deal. So far I'm up to 162 a night. That's why I was hoping to find out if I should give it some time before I start up again. Thanks for the input, I wasn't sure if hotels only give certain rooms to Priceline and once those are booked that's it.

Rates are rather high at the moment, but I wouldn't panic just yet as you still have plenty of time for additional discounted inventory to come to the market.

What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?

The rates you quoted above put your bids at less than half of prevailing rates, which while not unheard of, does not give a high probability of success. Rates are usually a bit cheaper than the above when we see bids in the ~$160 area accepted.

Janie2002,

Are you currently bidding 4* or Resort? The three Maui hotels you listed are all Resorts in the Hotel List of reported bids. With Resort being sort of a 4 1/2*.

Hotwire tends to be a little more generous in its ratings, so the 4* you were following there could be more like a 3 1/2* on Priceline.

Hi Everyone,

Im trying to figure out if this is either the Hyatt, Westin or Sheraton. (95% Recommended)

Amenities are:

Resort

Beachfront

Smoke Free Room

Fitness Center

Pools

Restaurant

Business Center

Laudry facility

High Speed Internet

Golf nearby

Tennis "

Spa services

Childrens Activity

I think I've read on here Hyat does not offer smoke free rooms, and Westin doesnt offer Laundry, so ould this be Sheraton?

Thanks
