I am trying for the Hyatt Regency, where the Daily Rate for my dates is $199. I have never had to bid more than $75 for a Priceline win at this hotel, so I decided to 'test the waters' and keep my bids low.

My initial bid of $50 was rejected. All five of my possible re-bids ($60, $65, $70, $75, and $80) were also rejected. I submitted my bids between 2:00PM and 2:19PM. I will bid again tomorrow.

It looks like you are running into some "event" dates. Hotwire's 4* offering was $190 for your dates!

With the short time remaining, I hope you have a Plan B. Cancelable back-up reservations is one. Lower star levels is another.

Do make sure you wait to start your bidding tomorrow until the full 24 hours has passed - after the last thing you did (2:19). If you get start a little too soon, you get locked out for another 24 hours.

And of course I'm sure you realize you have to be willing to accept ANY 4* hotel in the zone in which you bid. The Hyatt may not be the only one possible there.

Unfortunately, there's few properties in downtown Sarasota; I believe the Hyatt remains the only 4* last I looked. The issue for this particular period appears to be the second night - what looks to potentially be the Hyatt is showing for $125 on HOTWIRE for the first night, but not showing at all on the second night. $90-110 may be enough for a 4* for the first night, but if the Hyatt does not have discounted inventory or does not have reasonable discounted inventory, you may have to consider moving for the second night to a different hotel.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
