Parmcat Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 This site came recommended to me VERY highly through another posting board that I frequent. When I am planning for something, I jump in with both feet.My bro is getting married in Vegas in November. I am going to plan a trip with a group at the same time, but book separately. We will be leaving on Oct 30, and returning Nov 3. I think we will also try to book the flights through PL and really try to save some bucks.I am not asking for any help right now. I am trying to read all I can, and learn the rops. I have a fair bit of time, but would love to book the trip, so I dont obsess about it for 5 months...LOLI just wanted to say hello, and will be looking for some assisstance when I get the vibe that it is the time to book.So far, this site is such a wealth of knowledge, I have made it my homepage for now...Hope to chat with you all soonParmPS...I was not really sure if this was the right forum to make this post, but this is the forum I will be visiting numerously on a daily basis...
thereuare Posted June 14, 2005 Report Posted June 14, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! We'll keep this thread here and just continue it when you are getting ready to book. You may want to think twice about using Priceline for airfare as:1) the deals usually aren't that great2) you need to be very flexible... not knowing your flight times can eliminate nearly 2 days from your trip (if you get a later depature the day you leave and an early depature the day you return)Let us know whenever you're ready and we'll be here to help. You may also want to check out our Airfare Checker and our Las Vegas Checker tools.Once again, welcome to the boards. Parmcat Posted June 14, 2005 Author Report Posted June 14, 2005 Thanks Thereuare,I will be doing my homework the next little while...I did not realize that PL was not good for flights...I have other options, but the hotel deals are unreal!!!I am a fan already!Best wishes.Parm
Parmcat Posted June 16, 2005 Author Report Posted June 16, 2005 Hello again,I have a question.I see that most people want to grab one of the 4 star or 5 star hotels for the best price....and this is cool...especially when I see people getting these properties for 99.99/night.On that premise...I am looking to save as much as I can, and still be where the action is....Is is possible to get a hotel such at the Imperial Palace for like 40-50/night, if they are letting the Bellagio go for 99.00/night??? I realize those prices are for midweek....but still. We will not be spending much time in the room, and I know the IP has a very nice poker room...I am not asking for someone to check rates, I am just wondering if I am way off base with my thinking?TIAParm
thereuare Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 During slow times in Vegas, you can sometimes get rates such as that even without the opaque services. Vegas is unlike any other hotel market since during slow times, the hotels often will use their rooms as a 'loss leader' and hope to gain it back in gambling revenue. Parmcat Posted June 16, 2005 Author Report Posted June 16, 2005 Just wondering...I have looked at the lists above, listing the known priceline vegas hotels in their zones...Just wondering...if a hotel is not found on those lists, does that mean that priceline does not offer that hotel?I am specifically wondering about the Imperial Palace or the Orleans.Have these hotels been purchased through PL?TIAParm
thereuare Posted June 16, 2005 Report Posted June 16, 2005 Hotels are added/removed/upgraded/downgraded all the time... read the comments at the top of the hotel list. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Parmcat Posted June 22, 2005 Author Report Posted June 22, 2005 Hello again,After rethinking my dates/times...just wondering....Arriving Oct 31 (Mon)Departing Nov 3 (Thurs)I am just trying to get a feel for the prices that I may have to spend.I was looking at the Orleans website, and I can stay there for 60/60/80, and I like what I read...BUT...If I may be able to get a 5* strip for 99.00 on these dates....Possible????ParmI can get my flights for 234.00 through Spirit Airline directly....
thereuare Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 The rates at the Venetian website for the above dates is $499/nite... you won't get any deal at the Venetian for those dates. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
