TheF Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Looking to stay at a 4 star hotel in NYC from November 8th-11th. I am booking 2 rooms total. I prefer Affinia Dumont... I stayed there on similar dates last year for a conference (same conference this year) and it was nothing but amazing. They also gave me a one bedroom suite which was a huge surprise. I realize it's a bit more expensive than usual on these dates. I don't have a budget, but I'm a deal seeker. Any replies are much appreciated.
AaronJB Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)There is no way to bid for/increase the odds of a particular property. The Affinia Dumont has been previously seen as a win at the 4* level in the Empire State Building zone. However, when bidding - for 4* ESB, for example - you have to be willing to accept any 4* in that zone, and there are several possibilities. The hotels that have been reported to the board can be found on this list: Priceline Hotel List. Would you like to try only for ESB, or would other zones be acceptable? Additionally, what would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
TheF Posted October 18, 2011 Author Report Posted October 18, 2011 Oh I realize that. I'd have to take a bit of a gamble... but I'm willing to do it. I've stayed at the Shelbourne and I prefer not to stay there.. it's nice but it's no Dumont. My desired budget is $275 a night. And yes Empire State Building area only, unless you can recommend a similar hotel in another area. I'm very familiar with most of Manhattan so this is more of a preference thing...
thereuare Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 ...unless you can recommend a similar hotel in another area.I'm a bit concerned that you're trying to bid for a specific hotel rather than for the star rating and zone, and i think you're more than likely going to be disappointed then not... the Affinia Dumont is not seen that often as a win in this zone, and there are plenty of other 4* hotels which could possibly accept your bid.If you understand the risk and choose to move forward anyway...At the 4* level in NYC you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* ESB...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* ESB and re-bid zone4...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $190, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* ESB and re-bid zone5...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $210, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* ESB and re-bid zone4 and re-bid zone5...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $230While the above may ultimately prove to be too low, i'd start with the above and if rejected, we'll revise to try again in 24 hours. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
