LisaMarie84 Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 My husband and I are trying to book a trip to NYC for our 1st year Anniversary. The dates are firm 12/15-12/19. I'd really like to end up with one of the Affinia properties (we've stayed at Affinia Manhattan before and like the larger room and the little kitchenette). I can book their Eastgate Tower Hotel for $195/night (including all taxes/fees) without going the bidding route, so I'd like to try bidding to save a little more if possible. Around $150-170/night (or under) would be ideal. Of course, I'd be open to other hotels that have similar room amenities as well.Any tips would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you :)
AaronJB Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)There is no way to ensure a particular property or amenity when bidding. HOTWIRE does allow one to make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing and does show amenities, allowing one to search for a listing with a desired amenity (Kitchenette, etc.) The Affinia Manhattan is the only "known" (there may be properties not yet reported to the board) at the 3.5* level on PRICELINE in the MSG-Convention zone. However, I believe some PRICELINE users have reported getting regular rooms (without the kitchenette.) On HOTWIRE, there is a 3* in the ESB area for $160 w/Suite, Fitness, Kitchenette, Laundry, which would be a possible match for the Murray Hill East Suites.Would you primarily be interested in the Affinia properties or similar, or would you be willing to accept other, similarly rated properties? Which zones would you be interested in staying in?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 I'll also add to above by asking if your dates are flexible and/or if SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID is an option? At the moment rates are significantly cheaper for 12/16-12/19 than for 12/15, so splitting the bid, or changing your dates to 12/16-12/20 would likely get you a better deal, imo. What is the minimum star rating you're seeking for this stay? (as well as your maximum bid before taxes and fees? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
