rental for TPA 10/24/11-10/29/11

Hi, I am new to these boards, so please bear with me if I omit something important!

Looking for a compact car renting from TPA 10/24/11- 10/29/11.

I have a backup reservation with Alamo- $35/day

Don't know much about Priceline, but bid a couple times today unsuccessfully- tried compact at $15; and also tried midsize for $18- really no rhyme nor reason.

Looks like I can't bid again on a compact until tomorrow- do you have a strategy for me?

I've seen someone get $12 for 10/8-10/16

Would appreciate any and all help!

Since you have a little time, and a back-up reservation, i would $18 today... then over the next 3 days try: $20, $23, $25.

If you're still turned down at $25 you can regroup and decide if you want to try a little higher, or i have another possible, unconventional, way to play it. (although trying the above first would be your best bet)

thanks for all the advice- have a cancellable reservation for a convertible- $34 with a discount from Alamo.

May try to get the same but a little cheaper from Priceline- will let you know how it goes. :)

Found a deal with Alamo thru a wholesale club membership for an economy car but found a better deal, and got a convertible for $34 per day thru the same club. Thanks for all your help and guidance. I really appreciate it.
