New to PL bidding need help with bidding on a one night stay.

Parents and two children staying one nite on 10/22 in NYC for Broadway show. Would like to stay in Times Square or Midtown West to cut down on walking distances between Grand Central/Broadway/Hotel.

What would be the best bid for a 4* around 200.00 OR is it possible to get 4* for under 200.00?

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

PRICELINE guarantees double occupancy/one bed; while two beds can be requested, given the small size of most NYC rooms, this is often very unlikely (especially during busy periods, such as the holiday shopping season.) If you would like to ensure some form of bedding for the party, HOTWIRE would be a more optimal choice, as indicating two adults and two children will ensure some form of bedding (usually two beds, but can be 1 + rollaway or sofabed.)

Would two beds be needed or would you be willing to risk one?

Thanks....I guess I'll stay away from Price Line since I do want to accommodate the four of us in one room. Hotwire has Times Square greyed out and I don't see Midtown West as a choice. Any other suggestions?

Look at HOTWIRE's Midtown Central zone which is the most similar to PRICELINE's MTW zone.

However, searching HOTWIRE for 2adults/2children doesn't show anything in midtown near the $200 mark... what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conventional booking channels?

Although i'm not sure how much it will help, why not expand your geographic boundaries beyond TS and MTW/MTC... even if you stayed elsewhere in midtown and took a $10 cab ride to/from the theatre, it would likely be cheaper than 'paying up' to only stay in one of these two zones.

If you're willing to stay outside of the city, there is a 4* hotel in Jersey City which would be an easy PATH train commute into the city for $168/nite; although outside of the city, this looks to be a pretty good value for quad occupancy vs. the rates i'm currently seeing in the city.

Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
