PRICELINE offers 2* and 1* bidding in this zone... would this be sufficient for your needs this trip or do you prefer to extend the geographical area you're to accept in order to obtain a higher rated hotel?

1 and 2 is fine if in ojai but if there is a good deal close by I'd extend it.

10/18 for one day or in the future (nov and dec; very flexible dates).

It would be nice if it was 50 or under...

Deals in smaller markets can often be tough since there is less competition and hotels don't feel the need to discount as deeply.

Bid $35, if rejected lower star rating to 1 star...

Bid $30

Repeat every 24 hours increasing each bid by $5, until you reach your $50 maximum bid (and after bidding $50/$45, the following nite try $50/$50)

Started with 30 on a sunday. then added

*1 and tried different weekdays up to 70 where I stopped. I wonder if there is a slow season for ojai

I don't know much about this area, but there doesn't appear to be many hotels in this zone, and with less competition the deep discounts are not as easy to come by in smaller markets.

There are not a whole lot of hotels in this area, and the ones that are there are really swanky or really divey. It is a very nice town, but if you are trying to get a deal, you'd be better off staying 15 minutes away in Ventura or Oxnard to open up your selection.
